Christmas Tree Trends: What's Everyone Buying This Year?

Have you chosen your Christmas tree for this year? Finding it difficult to decide which decorations to choose? Feel like you want to try something a bit different?

It’s easy to assume trends for artificial Christmas trees and Christmas tree decorations are the same each year - you buy a green tree, throw your garlands and tinsel on, pop it up and you’re done. It doesn’t have to be this way.

Read on to find the perfect trend for your home - and prepare to be inspired...

Timeless Traditional

Red and gold baubles with green Christmas trees have been a go-to for decades and is, without a doubt, considered the quintessential Christmas colour scheme.

There’s a reason this amazing colour scheme is considered ‘traditional’ - it looks great every year, without fail. This colour scheme goes back to winter flora - green for the evergreen holly or mistletoe plants and red for seasonal berries, while gold represents the sun.

At Christmas Tree World, of course, you’ll find decorations in this classic scheme, but why not try giving it a modern-day spin? Combine this colour with recreations of traditional decorations to bring it into the 21st century. Red and white will work here for a classic candy cane style.

For the perfect tree to match this colour, we’d recommend our brand new Vivace Fir. This realistic pre-lit Christmas tree uses a mix of moulded PE branch tips and PVC. Its natural green and healthy-looking foliage contrasts perfectly with this colour scheme.

The PE tips are positioned at the ends of each branch to ensure the tree looks as lifelike as possible, while the PVC fills out the centre of the tree. This minimises any gaps in the foliage and gives a much bushier finish.

Vibrant & Neon

This is a tradition to take you back to the neon colours of 80s and 90s raves and represents an amazing contemporary choice.

Neon colours have grown in popularity in retail and entered the festive market a few years ago. Vibrant pinks, purples and blues are just some of the colours that are on-trend this Christmas, their disco-style shades standing out against black Christmas trees or white Christmas trees. With bright lights and decorations, you can bring the nightclub vibe into your home.

There are two options with this trend, either with a black or white Christmas tree - both work well here. To truly get your neon decorations to pop, we’d recommend our Black Iridescence Pine Tree for a full, stylish and modern tree.

Utilising traditional PVC tips in black with strips of clear iridescent film, the light dances off beautifully, which will work perfectly with the neon trend. This tree screams contemporary style and sophistication with its beautiful bushy profile.

Snowscape

When you think of Christmas then the exciting possibility of snow can never be far away from your thoughts, which is why the snowscape style is very popular this festive season.

Snowy white colours and icicle-style decorations have been a popular trend for years and aren’t going away this Christmas. A snowy Christmas tree always works wonderfully with this decoration trend and at Christmas Tree World you’ll find our blue and silver baubles that work perfectly for the snowscape style. You can extend this around your home with snowy alpine Christmas garlands and Christmas wreaths.

The tree we’d recommend is our Frosted Ultra Mountain Pine with its frosted foliage. A light and delicate covering of flocking create a wintery look without losing definition on the super-realistic PE plastic branch tips.

This tree’s unique design will be unmatched as the centrepiece of your home and is guaranteed to be a hit this Christmas. For an even more snow-capped look, shop our flocked, frosted and snowy artificial Christmas trees with their snow-laden branches.

Earth Tones

This trend combines nature with earthy, campfire tones for a calming retreat this festive season with green colours and flecks of brown or bronze.

To get in on this trend, you’ll bring the outdoors inside by using hints of green and natural materials or wood decorations. Not only do you create a more natural Christmas tree, but you’ll create a peaceful escape to ease your mind at a hectic time of year. To go more earthy and brown, use amber and copper shades mixed with pine cones and woodland creature decorations with warm white Christmas tree lights.

You could use almost any tree here, but we’d go with our brand new Vivente Fir for its stunning realism. Each branch tip is 100% plastic moulded PE, inspired by real branch needles while looking full and bushy without the need for PVC branches.

Decorating this tree is a joy, due to each PE branch tip having strong needles. This allows the tree to hold your ornaments and provide ample space in between for your baubles so they hang naturally. Our natural brown wooden Christmas tree skirts look wonderful with this tree if you're trying to create an earth tone theme.

How do I make my Christmas tree Instagrammable?

The main key to making your Christmas tree Instagrammable is to have a theme and to stick to it.

A trick to Instagramming your tree is to use oversized decorations, from massive animals and natural touches, such as pine cones, to large neon-lit stars. Instagramming a tree is difficult to do when you use lots of different, small decorations.

Use something larger on your tree to create a focal point. This will anchor a photograph and draw the eyes to it. You can buy oversized baubles at Christmas Tree World which range up to a size of 25cm bauble sets.
