Decorating ideas for blue Christmas baubles

Although blue is not traditionally associated with Christmas in the same way that red, green, and gold are, the colour has been incorporated into Christmas decorations more and more in recent years. If you're unsure about how to style your home with blue baubles, here are a few ways you can make the perfect Christmas for you and your loved ones:

  1. Christmas trees: The most traditional and popular place to hang blue baubles is on a Christmas tree. Spread them evenly throughout the branches, mixing different sizes and shades of blue for visual interest. Combine them with other ornaments and decorations to create a cohesive and balanced tree design. You can also opt to use asnowy Christmas tree to continue your wintery theme.
  2. Wreaths & garlands: Incorporate blue baubles intowreaths and garlands to add a touch of colour and sparkle. Place them evenly around the wreath and hang them on your front door, above the fireplace, or as a centrepiece on a wall. For garlands, you can wrap them along stair railings and mantels or drape them over windows or door frames. Place the blue baubles at regular intervals along the garland to create a cohesive look.
  3. Table centrepieces: Create a stunning table centrepiece using blue baubles. Fill glass vases or bowls with an assortment of blue baubles, either of the same shade or in various hues. Add greenery, candles, or other decorative elements to enhance the display.
  4. Window decorations: Attach blue baubles to ribbons and hang them from window frames or curtain rods. You also place fake snow blankets on windowsills and place a few blue baubles to complement them. The baubles will catch the light and add a festive touch to your windows, both from the inside and outside.
  5. Mantel & shelving displays: As well as windowsills, incorporate blue baubles into your mantel decor by placing them alongside other ornaments, greenery, and candles. Arrange them in groups or use them as accents to create a cohesive and visually appealing mantel display.

What decorations do blue Christmas tree baubles go best with?

As previously mentioned, blue is not your typical Christmas colour but it is often associated with winter and snow, which are central themes of the Christmas season.

Winter wonderland

Create a winter wonderland by pairing your blue baubles with white and silver Christmas tree decorations. Use a white Christmas tree as a canvas to showcase the beauty of your blue baubles, hanging them alongside shimmering silver tinsel, twinkling bright white Christmas lights, and delicate snowflake ornaments.

Enhance the wintry feel of blue baubles by incorporating icy and frosted Christmas tree decorations. Look for baubles with a frosted or textured finish, and add faux snow or icicle ornaments on your chosen surface. Clear baubles can also work well with blue and complement the icy theme of your decor.

Celestial theme

Another great theme idea you could go for is a celestial, midnight sky theme. Create a beautiful starry night sky with twinkling fairy lights that sparkle off your ornaments. Hang the baubles on a black or dark blue Christmas tree and add celestial-themed ornaments like stars, moons, and glittering accents for a soothing Christmas.

Metallic colours like silver and gold also work incredibly well with blue. Silver is best used for more snowy Christmas tree themes, whereas gold is best for a luxurious, regal, and celestial look.

Coastal and nautical themes

Blue can also work well with coastal and nautical themes. Combine your blue baubles with seashell ornaments, starfish, and netting rope to evoke a beachy atmosphere. You can also add some natural elements like driftwood or twine to enhance the coastal vibe. The deep blue sea can provide a lot of calming and peaceful ambience.

Christmas tree size guide

Artificial Christmas trees can come in a variety of heights. The best way to decide on the right tree height for you is to consider your space in the room you plan to put the tree in and if you want the tree to fill a room or add as an accent piece. As a best practice, you’ll want to select a tree that is at least 6 inches shorter than your ceiling, or 18 inches shorter if you plan on adding a tree topper. The typical height of a ceiling in a home is 8-9 feet.

  • Under 6 feet trees: Ideal for tabletops, decorative accents, small spaces, entryways, or kids’ bedrooms.
  • 6-8 feet trees: The most common tree size and perfect for most homes with average height ceilings.
  • Over 8 feet trees: Great for homes with taller than average ceilings, two story homes, and perfect for a space where you want your tree to be dramatic and a focal point of the room.
