Choosing the right tree size for high ceilings
If you have high ceilings, selecting the right Christmas tree size is essential for a stunning holiday display.
As specialists in tall Christmas trees for both commercial and residential use, here’s how to choose the perfect tree:
- Measure Your Ceiling Height:
For high ceilings (9 feet or taller), aim to leave 6-12 inches between the top of the tree (including the topper) and the ceiling. - Opt for Tall Trees:
-
- 9-10 ft ceilings: Choose a 7-8ft tree.
- 10-12 ft ceilings: Consider an 8-9ft tree.
- 12+ ft ceilings: Go for a 9-10ft tree or taller.
- Consider Tree Width:
Match the tree’s width to the room’s scale. A wide tree suits large spaces, while a narrower slim Christmas tree works well in tighter areas. - Choose the Right Style:
High ceilings allow for a variety of styles, from traditional to contemporary. Select a tree that fits your overall holiday theme. - Decoration Needs:
Taller trees require more Christmas decorations. Ensure you have enough lights, ornaments, and garlands for a balanced look, and use a ladder or stool for safe decorating. - Position as a Focal Point:
Place your tree in a prominent spot, such as near a window or in a central location, to maximise its visual impact.
As specialists in tall Christmas trees, we offer a range of options designed to perfectly suit both commercial and residential spaces, ensuring your high ceilings are beautifully complemented by a stunning tree.
The difference between PE & PVC branch tips
When selecting an artificial Christmas tree, understanding the difference between traditional (PVC) branch tips and plastic moulded (PE) branch can help you choose the tree that best suits your needs.
Here’s a breakdown of both types and how they work together:
- PE (Plastic Moulded) Branch Tips:
- Realistic Appearance: PE branch tips are plastic moulded from real tree branches, giving them a three-dimensional, lifelike appearance that closely resembles natural foliage. This design makes them look almost identical to real tree needles.
- Durability: PE branch tips are highly durable and maintain their shape well over time. They are less likely to flatten or lose form, ensuring your tree looks lush and full year after year.
- Used in Combination: While PE tips offer a realistic look, when used alone, they can make the tree appear sparse. That’s why our artificial trees with PE tips always include a mix of PE and PVC tips. This combination ensures your tree has the fullness and density provided by PVC, along with the realistic outer appearance of PE tips.
- PVC (Traditional) Branch Tips:
- Classic Look: PVC branch tips, referred to as traditional branch tips, are made from flat, ribbon-like strips of PVC that are cut to resemble tree needles. They provide a full, classic appearance that many people associate with artificial Christmas trees.
- Affordability: PVC trees are typically more affordable than those with PE branch tips. They offer a good balance between cost and appearance, making them a popular choice for many households.
- Added Fullness: In trees where PE tips are used, PVC tips are added to fill in the tree, ensuring it looks lush and dense. This combination creates a tree that is both realistic and full-bodied.
- Combination Trees:
- Best of Both Worlds: All our trees with PE tips feature a combination of PE and PVC branch tips. The outer, visible tips are made of PE for a realistic appearance, while the inner branches are PVC, providing fullness and structure. This mix ensures your tree looks as full and natural as possible.
Which Should You Choose?
PE & PVC Combination Trees:
Choose a tree with a mix of PE and PVC branch tips for the most realistic and full appearance. These trees are designed to offer the best of both worlds: the lifelike look of PE with the dense fullness of PVC.
How many lights and decorations do I need for a 10ft tree?
Decorating a 10ft Christmas tree requires careful planning to achieve a balanced and festive look.
Here’s a guide to help you determine how many lights and decorations you’ll needfor a 10ft Christmas tree:
- Recommended Number of Lights: For a 10ft tree, you’ll need approximately 1,500-2,000 LED tree lights to ensure even coverage and a bright, festive glow. If you prefer a more subtle look, you can use closer to 1,500 lights, while those who love a brighter tree might opt for 2,000 lights or more.
- Recommended Number of Ornaments:
- Large Ornaments:
Around 50-60 large Christmas ornaments will anchor the design and fill in significant spaces. - Medium Ornaments:
About 150-200 medium ornaments will provide coverage and add variety. - Small Ornaments:
Approximately 200-300 small ornaments are perfect for filling in gaps and adding detail.
- Large Ornaments:
- Tree Topper: Choose a topper that’s proportional to the tree’s height, to make a statement without overpowering the top of the tree.
- Tree Skirt: A tree skirt is essential for completing the look of your 10ft tree. We offer extra-wide tree skirts specifically designed to accommodate the large stands that come with 10ft trees, adding an elegant finishing touch.
By using the right amount of lights and decorations, you can create a beautifully balanced and festive 10ft Christmas tree that will be the centrepiece of your Christmas celebrations.
