2024 & beyond - We've partnered with the TreeApp Charity
Since 2024 we have worked with a new charity partner - TreeApp. Our latest donation has been used to help restore the Usambara Forests in Tanzania.

Stage 1
New nurseries were established for
species who require shelter from wind and
wild animals. These are carefully grown by
planters close to their future planting
sites until they reach a height of just over
20cm.
By protecting the saplings, we increase the
chances of survival as they are able to
develop a healthy root and leaf system,
allowing our trees to absorb the necessary
nutrients to grow
Stage 2
Most of the seeds gathered during the
planting seasons were found close to the
new planting sites. To disperse seeds from
nearby ecosystems mimics the effects of
natural regeneration. This increases
chances of survival.
Monocultures, the term for forests which
only consist of only one species, are
susceptible to disease, and so we gather
different species of tree seeds to increase
biodiversity and increase resilience.
Stage 3
Trees are individually pushed into the soil,
using varying techniques suitable for each
region, depending on soil type. We ensure
that the there is appropriate space
between each tree to ensure they are able
to attain the right level of nutrients.
Where possible, we use planting methods
that have been used in the region for
centuries. For example, in dry regions such
as Ethiopia, we plant in contour bunds,
which allow for the accumulation of water
into the roots system to improve survival
rates
Stage 4
Trees are closely monitored, kept free
from pests and left to create natural
regeneration in the surrounding 50m2
area. Fruit and nut trees give off produce
after 2 - 7 years.
Through careful species selection, adapted
planting techniques and post-planting
monitoring, we are able to achieve high
rates of survival across our sites, ranging
between 75% to 95% across the globe.
2019-2024 The rainforest planting in Borneo..

A Tree Planted for Every Order
We've partnered with the non-profit Borneo Nature Foundation to restore the fire-damaged rainforest and protect the wild Bornean orangutans.
For every Christmas Tree World order placed, a seedling is planted in the Borneo rainforest at no extra cost to our customers.
Thanks to your eco-friendly choices, our total donation has reached £100,000, contributing to over a third of BNF’s total reforestation efforts.

Why Borneo?
Over half of Borneo's natural forests have been lost in the last few decades, and deforestation is still occurring at an alarming rate. This forest is home to some of the world's most diverse wildlife, and we must protect it.
"In just four short decades, Borneo has lost more than 50% of its tropical rainforest due to deforestation, illegal logging, and wildfires caused by human interference. This has devastated the local wildlife, putting species at risk."
"This pledge is one of the most significant we've received to date. We're grateful to the Christmas Tree World team for their support and look forward to working together to protect Borneo's biodiversity."
- Susan M. Cheyne, Co-Director, Borneo Nature Foundation

Between 2019-2023, we partnered with BNF to plant a seedling in the Borneo rainforest for every Christmas Tree World order. Thanks to our customers, we have donated over £100,000, contributing significantly to reforestation efforts.
We are committed to being an eco-friendly artificial Christmas tree supplier, using solar-powered warehouses and digital solutions to reduce our carbon footprint.

A Tree Planted for Every Order
Our previous charitable work has seen us partner with the non-profit Borneo Nature Foundation a fantastic organisation who help to restore the fire-damaged rainforest and save the home of the wild Bornean orangutans.
As part of our sustainability pledge, our partnership saw that for every Christmas Tree World order made on our website a seedling in the Borneo rainforest was planted - all at no extra cost to our customers.
Our overall donation amassed £100,000 for the foundation, contributing to over one-third of their total reforestation efforts – and it’s all thanks to our customers’ eco-friendly purchasing decisions over the years.
This is just one of the ways we have pledged to become a more eco-friendly artificial Christmas tree supplier in the UK. (Our warehouse is also solar-powered and we use software solutions to cut down on air travel.)
Why Borneo?
Around half of Borneo’s natural forests have been lost in the past few decades, and they are continuing to decline at a rapid pace. As one of the world’s most biodiverse forests, it has ecological and environmental importance that we simply cannot afford to lose.
"In just four short decades, Borneo has lost more than 50% of its tropical rainforest coverage, due to industrial-scale deforestation, illegal logging, and wildfires caused by man-made interference. This is coupled with the devastating effects on the local wildlife, with animals at danger from both poachers and losing their natural habitat."
"This pledge is one of the most significant we've received to date. We're grateful to the Christmas Tree World team for their support and we're looking forward to working together to further protect the biodiversity of Borneo."
