Tips for choosing a small Christmas tree
CWhether you’re short on space or simply prefer a more compact Christmas display, a small Christmas tree can be a charming and festive addition to your home.
Here are some tips to help you choose the perfect small tree:
- Consider the Space:
Measure the area where you plan to place your tree to ensure it fits comfortably. Small Christmas trees are great for apartments, bedrooms, offices, or as secondary trees in larger homes. - Choose the Right Height:
Small trees typically range from 2ft to 5ft in height. A 2ft to 3ft tree is ideal for tabletops, desks, or small side tables, while a 4ft to 5ft tree can be placed on the floor or on a larger surface like a coffee table or console. - Look for Fullness:
Even in a small size, a tree should look full and lush. Consider trees with dense foliage to give the appearance of a well-filled tree, which can still carry a festive presence despite its size. - Pre-Lit vs. Unlit:
If you prefer convenience, consider a pre-lit small Christmas tree, which comes with lights already attached. This saves time and effort, especially with smaller trees where stringing lights can be more challenging. However, if you enjoy decorating, an unlit tree allows you to choose your own lights. - Style to Suit Your Decor:
Small trees come in various styles, from traditional green to flocked (snow-covered) or even modern, minimalist designs. Choose one that complements your existing holiday decor or adds a unique touch to your space. - Versatile Placement:
Small trees are versatile and can be placed in various locations, from entryways to bedrooms, on mantels, or in corners that need a festive touch. They’re also great for outdoor spaces like balconies or porches.
Choosing a small Christmas tree is about finding the right balance between size, style, and placement. With these tips, you can select a tree that perfectly fits your space and adds a delightful holiday touch to any room.
The difference between PE & PVC branch tips
When selecting an artificial Christmas tree, understanding the difference between traditional (PVC) branch tips and plastic moulded (PE) branch can help you choose the tree that best suits your needs.
Here’s a breakdown of both types and how they work together:
- PE (Plastic Moulded) Branch Tips:
- Realistic Appearance: PE branch tips are plastic moulded from real tree branches, giving them a three-dimensional, lifelike appearance that closely resembles natural foliage. This design makes them look almost identical to real tree needles.
- Durability: PE branch tips are highly durable and maintain their shape well over time. They are less likely to flatten or lose form, ensuring your tree looks lush and full year after year.
- Used in Combination: While PE tips offer a realistic look, when used alone, they can make the tree appear sparse. That’s why our artificial trees with PE tips always include a mix of PE and PVC tips. This combination ensures your tree has the fullness and density provided by PVC, along with the realistic outer appearance of PE tips.
- PVC (Traditional) Branch Tips:
- Classic Look: PVC branch tips, referred to as traditional branch tips, are made from flat, ribbon-like strips of PVC that are cut to resemble tree needles. They provide a full, classic appearance that many people associate with artificial Christmas trees.
- Affordability: PVC trees are typically more affordable than those with PE branch tips. They offer a good balance between cost and appearance, making them a popular choice for many households.
- Added Fullness: In trees where PE tips are used, PVC tips are added to fill in the tree, ensuring it looks lush and dense. This combination creates a tree that is both realistic and full-bodied.
- Combination Trees:
- Best of Both Worlds: All our trees with PE tips feature a combination of PE and PVC branch tips. The outer, visible tips are made of PE for a realistic appearance, while the inner branches are PVC, providing fullness and structure. This mix ensures your tree looks as full and natural as possible.
Which Should You Choose?
PE & PVC Combination Trees:
Choose a tree with a mix of PE and PVC branch tips for the most realistic and full appearance. These trees are designed to offer the best of both worlds: the lifelike look of PE with the dense fullness of PVC.
How many lights and decorations do I need for a small tree?
Decorating a small Christmas tree, such as one that’s 2-4ft tall, requires just the right amount of lights and decorations to create a festive look without overwhelming the tree.
Here’s a guide to help you:
- Recommended Number of Lights: For a small Christmas tree, you’ll need approximately 50-150 LED lights. If the tree is closer to 2ft, use around 50-75 Christmas tree lights; for a 3-4ft tree, use 100-150 lights to ensure a balanced glow.
- Recommended Number of Ornaments:
- Large Ornaments: You might need 5-10 large ornaments to create focal points on your small tree.
- Medium Ornaments: Approximately 10-15 medium Christmas decorations provide coverage without overwhelming the tree.
- Small Ornaments: Around 15-20 small ornaments fill in gaps and add delicate details.
- Tree Topper: Choose a small topper that’s proportional to the tree’s size, typically 10-15cm tall.
- Additional Accents: Consider adding small decorative elements like miniature ribbons, beads, or tinsel to enhance the overall look without overpowering the tree.
- Tree Skirt: A compact tree skirt or decorative base covering will complete the setup, adding a polished look to your small tree.
By following these guidelines, your small Christmas tree will be perfectly decorated, bringing festive cheer to even the cosiest of spaces.
