When should I put up my Christmas tree?

It’s a question which has stood the test of time: ‘When is the right time to put my Christmas tree up?’.

Start of December? First of the month? Just ahead of the family arriving? Before the neighbours? There’s a wide range of answers and opinions.

There are traditions involved also, and we’ll break them all down along with some of our favourite artificial Christmas trees for this festive season.

Christmas Eve

In years gone by and in the tradition of the Catholic faith, Christmas Eve was when the tree was set up - and even then, not until the afternoon.

A speedy entrance and exit? Sure. But did it yield the desired wow-factor to your guests? Now that’s a tricky one, especially if you’ve gone to the trouble to buy a premier artificial realistic Christmas tree - you want to show it off well before the big day. Certainly for a few days at least.

Putting your Christmas tree up is part of getting ready for and getting into the festive spirit, signifying that it’s on the way. Waiting until Christmas Eve is simply a little too late for many, especially to justify your effort and expense.

12 Days Before Christmas

Not too early or too late, slap-bang in the middle of the festive build-up gives you time to show-off your new artificial Christmas tree. You don’t have to feel pressured into putting your tree up early or waiting until it’s late.

If you have children, this is also a perfect time to help them know that Christmas is almost here, tying in with the end of the school term. It’s an ideal family activity that everyone can enjoy.

Advent – The Most Popular Date

If you want your tree up as early as possible and are looking for a tradition to make it more significant, Advent is the one for you.

Advent, in western Christianity, is the name for the time leading up to Christmas and covers the four Sundays before Christmas. It begins on the Sunday closest to November 30, the feast day of St Andrew.

Rather handily, Advent will start in 2019 on Sunday, December 1. Therefore, if you want your artificial pre-lit Christmas tree up early, this is the time for you. You may even remember and have time to make your own advent artificial Christmas wreath!

Favourite Festive Trees for Christmas 2019

We have a huge range of artificial Christmas trees for you to choose from, but if you still haven’t picked your tree, don’t worry, here are a few of our favourites this year…

Pre-lit Vivace Pine Tree

A pre-lit Christmas tree is the ideal time-saver. If you quickly tire of stringing up lights or have never mastered the art of arranging your display, then this is the option for you.

This realistic artificial pre-lit Christmas tree is constructed using a mix of plastic moulded PE branch tips and traditional PVC branch tips. The PE branch tips are positioned at the ends of each branch, to ensure the tree looks as lifelike as possible.

Foresta Pine Tree

If you want your tree to truly stand-out this year, one of our impressive trees will be just what you’re looking for.

This unique bushy Christmas tree is designed to look like a freshly chopped down tree. Its beautiful design incorporates a mixture of highly realistic PE plastic moulded branch tips and traditional PVC branch tips. It's feathered “bottle-brush”-style pine needles are used to stunning effect.

Vivente Fir

At Christmas Tree World, we pride ourselves on the wonderfully realistic look of our artificial Christmas trees. If you want a tree that looks like the real thing, this is it.

Due to the design of the branch tips, and the quantity found on each branch, this tree requires no traditional PVC branch tips to be used as “filler” and looks beautifully realistic throughout. Decorating this tree is a joy, with ample space in between for your baubles to hang naturally.

Snowy Alpine Tree

If you have your fingers crossed for a white Christmas every year, a snowy Christmas tree may be for you. Bring that sense of enchantment that only frost-flecked trees can provide.

One of our most popular trees, the Snowy Alpine always looks stunning. If you are looking for a snow-covered tree this Christmas, then look no further! A flocked and frosted mix of traditional dark green PVC branch tips, this tree could easily pass for a freshly cut tree straight out of a winter wonderland.
